It is the mission of the Positive Behavior Support (PBS) team at Mariner Middle School to increase behaviors that promote learning and respectful interactions between students and staff.
Schoolwide PBS Celebrations
Each marking period, our students are encouraged to earn passing grades, attend school regularly, and display appropriate behaviors. By meeting the set criteria for students listed below, students are invited to attend the marking Period School-wide PBS Celebrations.
Criteria to attend School-wide PBS Celebrations:
Earn a passing grade (70% or higher) in all subjects (core classes and Exploratory classes).
Attend school with no more than 3 unexcused absences (no note from parent, doctor or agency).
No more than 1 Time Out (does not include when students ask for Personal TO break.
No office referrals for inappropriate behaviors.

Marking Period 1 - November 9, 2017
Marking Period 2 - January 24, 2018
Marking Period 3 - March 29, 2018
Marking Period 4 - TBA
Field Day - June 4, 2018
Positive Behavior Referrals
Positive Behavior Referrals (PBR) are completed by any staff member to acknowledge excellent behavior demonstrated by an individual student's. Students may receive a PBR for helping a peer, great effort during a classroom activity, being responsible and dependable with communications send home, etc. When a student receives his/her copy of the PBR, the staff member who wrote it must contact a parent or guardian to let them know a the reason for the PBR. A copy is sent home with the student and one copy is kept in a PBS file.
LOOT Tickets
LOOT tickets are handed out by staff members as a quick way to acknowledge the little things that students do that go a long way. LOOT tickets can be used in classrooms for drawings and special opportunities. They can also be used to "purchase" items at Celebrations and from the Mariner Mart.
PBS Hat Days
Throughout the year on School-wide PBS Celebration days students and staff will have the opportunity to support PBS activities by wearing a hat to school by donating $1.00. All funds collected from Hat Day will go towards items we purchase to stock the Mariner Mart and items for PBS Celebrations.
